Breaking Changes in thingsHub 8.0

Removing Support for Unused Network Connectors

To optimize and streamline the ThingsHub platform, we are removing support for several legacy and unused network connectors in the next major release.

Affected Connector Types

The following network connector types will be permanently removed:

  • melita

  • thingfox

  • helium

  • tos2

  • spn

  • unitymedia

  • iridium

  • nimbelink

What You Need to Know

  • From thingsHub 8.0 onwards, you will no longer be able to create new connectors of these types.

  • If you have devices on these connectors, they will be automatically deregistered from the connector during the update.

  • No data will be lost. All device history, data, trackers, and tags will be retained.

Action Required

We recommend you review your device configurations before upgrading to thingsHub 8.0.

  1. Identify any devices currently using the affected connectors.

  2. Deregister: You can proactively unregister these network connectors yourself via the UI or API.

  3. If no action is taken:
The system will automatically handle the deregistration during the next platform update. Your devices will remain in the system, but will no longer be associated with the removed connector.
Once this change is applied, these unused network connectors will be permanently removed from ThingsHub and will not be available in the future.

We recommend taking the necessary steps now to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted operation of your devices.
