2026-02-23 - thingsHub 8.2.0

This release, Version 8.2.0, introduces significant performance and visual updates for Device Management, Asset Tracking, and Map Visualization. Key improvements include enhanced battery monitoring for Eddystone devices, the transition to Advanced Map Components, and refined permission controls for guest users.

New Features

  • Driver SDK Battery Support: Enhanced the Driver SDK to support FMAT message formats, enabling the extraction of battery level information from Eddystone-TLM advertisements for improved device health monitoring.

Enhancements

  • The new advanced map has been introduced within the Devices Overview, Home Page, and Device Detail Telemetry views to provide a more unified user experience.

  • Device Detail Performance: Replaced lazy loading with Eager Loading for individual tabs on the Device Detail Page to resolve performance degradation and ensure telemetry updates are visible without a page refresh.

  • Geolocation Privacy: Disabled automatic browser location requests on the Homepage and Dashboard, moving permission prompts to specific scenarios where user location is required, such as creating a site or setting static device locations.

  • Geofence Notification Logic: Updated the alerting system to no longer automatically notify the geofence creator of every alert, reducing unnecessary email volume and duplicate support tickets.

  • Automated User Unlocking: Introduced a password reset feature that allows users to self-unlock their accounts after multiple failed login attempts, streamlining the user experience and reducing administrative support overhead.

Bug Fixes

  • Map Visualization: Resolved issues on the Assets Map where current location markers were missing and journey clusters failed to correctly pan or zoom the view.

  • Data Exchange Stability: Fixed a persistent loading spinner on the Data Exchange page and the Device Driver List that continued to spin even when requests were complete or no records were returned.

  • Asset Redirection: Corrected a mapping issue where the Device ID was incorrectly used as the Asset ID, resolving broken URL redirections when navigating from the Asset Tags page.

  • Telemetry Permissions: Enforced UI permissions on the Device Detail Telemetry tab to properly disable the Edit Telemetry button for Guest users.

  • Bulk Labeling: Fixed a defect in the Device Overview where custom labels were not successfully applied to selected devices.

  • Network Tab Accuracy: Restored the missing Confirmed column in the Device Network data table to ensure full visibility into downlink status.

  • Pagination Consistency: Fixed a pagination error on the Device Detail Data Tab where navigating between pages failed to refresh the displayed records.

  • State Reset Reliability: Corrected the Reset action in the Asset Inventory view to ensure all sorts, filters, and fields return to their original default configurations.

  • Driver Registry Integration: Resolved an issue where Driver Tags were not correctly pulled from the master registry if a floating tag with the same digest already existed.

  • UI Polish: Added a planned 2px gray border around map containers across various pages to align with standard platform designs.

  • Precise Positioning: Standardized site center location updates to prevent unintended marker shifting caused by excessive rounding of latitude and longitude coordinates.

  • Localization: Added missing translations and corrected existing entries throughout the Tracking Alerts creation process.

  • Tooltip Consistency: Standardized the styling and implementation of Kendo Tooltips across Tracker & Tag views, ensuring users receive clear feedback when actions are restricted by permissions.

  • Undeleted Assets: Resolved an issue where trackers remained bound to assets even after unbinding operations were performed.

  • Geofence Email Clarity: Fixed a template error in Geofence Alert emails that resulted in missing "entered" or "exited" information in the message body.
